PHILIPPINES IMMIGRATION GETS A NEW ASSOCIATE COMMISSIONER.
There have been 2 posts vacant since last November 2010 at the Bureau of Immigration.
Last May 12 Abdullah Mangotara had his appointment papers signed by the President himself. This was followed by his oath taking before Justice Secretary Leila de Lima last May 17.. On May 20, he paid a courtesy call to the incumbent Immigration commissioner Hon. Ricardo David. On May 23 he assumed his post.
As a background he is a Lawyer, is 58-year-old and a member of the ruling Liberal Party, serving as two-term congressman representing the province’s second district.
The former congressman will sit as a member of the three-man board of commissioners, which is chaired by David. The board handles deportation cases and visa applications of foreigners who wish to obtain residency in the Philippines.
David welcomed the appointment of Mangotara, saying that the former lawmaker’s expertise in formulating laws will help the bureau in pushing for a new immigration act. A veteran member of the ruling Liberal Party, Mangotara was first elected to Congress in 1998 and reelected in 2001. He chaired several committees in Congress, including the agrarian reform, ways and means, and public works and highways.
Congratulations Sir from the Filipino Indian community.
